Getting Started

Before completing the application form, please read the requirements for Prerequisites

Email the completed form and all requested supporting documentation to trainingoftrainers@montessori-ami.org.  The application fee must be submitted at this time.

Supporting Documentation

The following documents must be submitted with the application:

  • the official application form
  • the applicant’s CV

    • a person in authority in the applicant’s workplace
    • the Director of Training of the centre where the applicant obtained their AMI diploma
    • a person of professional standing
    • (an applicant may be asked for further references)

Application Fee

A non-refundable application fee of €225 is payable when submitting the Training of Trainers Application Form.

Interviews

Eligibility is confirmed upon the completion of a positive observation visit and the review of all required documentation submitted as listed above. Subsequently, the candidate will be contacted to set up 2 interviews. Frequently, these interviews can be conducted online.

Acceptance

Once the post-interview forms have been received by the Training Group, the application will be placed for the next Training Group meeting for review and decision. The Training Group meets five times a year: February, April, July, September, November. The decision of the Training Group will be announced as soon as possible after the meeting.

Expenses

While at a training centre, the trainer-in-training is responsible for costs incurred for travel, accommodation, meals, day-to-day living expenses, books, and study materials.

Financial Assistance

Financial assistance may be available to the trainer-in-training from the Mario Montessori 75 Fund in the form of an interest-free loan. The MM75 Fund is a nonprofit foundation created by the friends and colleagues of Maria Montessori’s son, Mario, to support the professional training of AMI Montessori teacher trainers. For further information on the MM75 Fund see here.

Accessibility

In alignment with AMI’s mission to preserve the legacy of Maria Montessori’s vision while continuing to innovate and increase both reach and impact of Montessori principles and practice at all levels, we are committed to supporting developing Trainers as needed to ensure accessibility. In light of this, please know that considerations may be given during the application process as well as throughout the course, on a case-by-case basis, for the following aspects:

  • expansion in the representation of AMI Trainers across diverse regions and contexts at a global level
  • Trainer/Course availability
  • unexpected/unavoidable personal circumstances

In case of provisional admissions, all outstanding application requirements need to be met before being granted Associate Trainer status.
